Oblomov and Ilyinskaya. Composition on the theme of break-ups and Olga Ilyinskaya in the story of Goncharov

According to the tradition that has developed in Russian literature, love becomes a test for heroes and reveals new facets of characters. This tradition was followed by Pushkin (Onegin and Tatyana), Lermontov (Pechorin and Vera), Turgenev (Bazarov and Odintsova), Tolstoy (Bolkonsky and Natasha Rostova). This topic is also touched upon in Goncharov's novel Oblomov. On the example of the love of Ilya Ilyich Oblomov and Olga Ilyinskaya, the author showed how a person's personality is revealed through this feeling.

Olga Ilyinskaya is a positive image of the novel. This is a smart girl with sincere, devoid of affectation, manners. She did not enjoy much success in the world, only Stoltz managed to appreciate her. Andrei singled out Olga among other women, because “although unconsciously, she followed a simple, natural path of life ... and did not deviate from the natural manifestation of thought, feeling, will ...”

Oblomov, having met Olga, first of all drew attention to her beauty: "Whoever met her, even absent-minded, stopped for a moment in front of this so strictly and deliberately, artistically created creature." When Oblomov heard her singing, love awakened in his heart: “From words, from sounds, from this pure, strong girlish voice, the heart beat, nerves trembled, eyes sparkled and swam with tears ...” The thirst for life and love that sounded in Olga’s voice, echoed in the soul of Ilya Ilyich. Behind the harmonious appearance, he felt a beautiful soul, capable of deep feelings.

Reflecting on his future life, Oblomov dreamed of a tall, slender woman, with a quiet, proud look. Seeing Olga, he realized that his ideal and she are one person. For Oblomov, the highest harmony is peace, and Olga would be a statue of harmony, "if she were turned into a statue." But she could not become a statue, and, presenting her in his "earthly paradise", Oblomov began to understand that he would not succeed in an idyll.

The love of the heroes from the very beginning was doomed. Ilya Ilyich Oblomov and Olga Ilyinskaya understood the meaning of life, love, family happiness in different ways. If for Oblomov love is a disease, a passion, then for Olga it is a duty. Ilya Ilyich fell in love with Olga deeply and sincerely, idolized her, gave her all his “I”: “He gets up at seven o’clock, reads, carries books somewhere. On the face of no sleep, no fatigue, no boredom. There were even colors on him, a sparkle in his eyes, something like courage, or at least self-confidence. You can't see a robe on him."

In Olga's feelings, a consistent calculation was visible. Having agreed with Stolz, she took the life of Ilya Ilyich into her own hands. Despite her youth, she was able to discern in him an open heart, a kind soul, "pigeon tenderness." At the same time, she liked the very idea that it was she, a young and inexperienced girl, who would revive such a person as Oblomov. “She will show him the goal, make him fall in love again with everything that he fell out of love with, and Stolz will not recognize him when he returns. And all this miracle will be done by her, so timid, silent, whom no one has obeyed until now, who has not yet begun to live! She is the culprit of such a transformation!

Olga tried to change Ilya Ilyich, he also needed feelings that would bring him closer to his native Oblomovka, a blessed corner of the earth where he grew up, where the meaning of life fits into thoughts about food, sleep, in idle conversations: care and warmth, demanding nothing in return. He found all this in Agafya Matveevna Pshenitsyna, and therefore became attached to her as to a dream come true about returning.

Realizing how different their views on life are, Oblomov decides to write a letter to Olga, which becomes a real poetic work. This letter reads a deep feeling and desire for happiness for the beloved girl. Knowing himself, Olga’s inexperience, in a letter he opens her eyes to a mistake, asks her not to make it: “Your present love is not true love, but future. This is only an unconscious need to love ... ”But Olga understood Oblomov’s act differently - as fear of misfortune. She understands that anyone can stop loving or fall in love with another person, but she says that she cannot follow a person if there is a risk in this. And it is Olga who decides to end their relationship. In the last conversation, she tells Ilya Ilyich that she loved the future Oblomov. Assessing the relationship between Oblomov and Olga, Dobrolyubov wrote: “Olga left Oblomov when she stopped believing in him; she will also leave Stolz if she stops believing in him.”

Having written a letter, Oblomov refused happiness in the name of his beloved. Olga and Ilya broke up, but their relationship had a profound impact on their future life. Oblomov found happiness in the house of Agafya Matveevna, which became for him the second Oblomovka. He is ashamed of such a life, he understands that he lived it in vain, but it is too late to change anything.

The love of Olga and Oblomov enriched the spiritual world of both. But the greatest merit is that Ilya Ilyich contributed to the formation of Olga's spiritual world. A few years after breaking up with Ilya, she confesses to Stolz: “I love him not as before, but there is something that I love in him, to which I seem to have remained faithful and will not change like others ...” And in this shows the depth of her nature. Unlike Stolz, whose life goals have limits, people like Oblomov and Olga do not stop thinking about the purpose of a person all their lives and ask themselves the question: “What next?”

Materials about the work of the writer and the novel "Oblomov".

Ilya Ilyich Oblomov and Olga Ilyinskaya, the heroes of Goncharov's novel Oblomov, understand the meaning of life, love, family happiness in different ways.

Oblomov was born in Oblomovka - a “blessed” corner of the earth. He was brought up by nature, the care and affection of his mother, the fairy tales of his nanny, which later became his dreams. Oblomov is a complex person. He did not like social life, he believed that in this pursuit of a career and money, a person is lost.

“What am I more guilty than they are, lying at home and not infecting my head with triplets and jacks?” Ilya Ilyich asked Stolz. And lying down he dreamed. Sometimes imagining himself as some kind of liberator that everyone worships, sometimes thinking about quiet family happiness with his wife, children and friends.

Having met and fell in love with Olga, Oblomov gave her all his “I”. “He gets up at seven o'clock, reads, carries books somewhere. On the face of no sleep, no fatigue, no boredom. Even colors appeared on him, a sparkle in his eyes, something like courage, or at least self-confidence. You can’t see a robe on him.” He was afraid to cause her inconvenience, idolized her.

But what about Olga? How did she manage to “wake up” Oblomov? Having agreed with Stolz, she took the life of Ilya Ilyich into her own hands. On the one hand, she liked him. In general, Oblomov's “pigeon tenderness” attracted people, he was an interesting conversationalist, even without knowing the latest gossip, without reading “fashionable” books. But, on the other hand, she liked the very idea that it was she, a young and inexperienced girl, who would bring back to life such a person as Oblomov. “She will show him the goal, make him fall in love again with everything that he fell out of love with, and Stolz will not recognize him when he returns. And all this miracle will be done by her, so timid, silent, whom no one has obeyed until now, who has not yet begun to live! She is the culprit of such a transformation!”

Oblomov in love was sincere, noble. Knowing himself, Olga's inexperience, he writes a letter, and opens her eyes to a mistake, asks her not to make it: “Your present love is not true love, but future. This is only an unconscious need to love ... ”But Olga, changing the meaning of the letter, speaks of Oblomov’s fear of misfortune. She does not deny that anyone can fall out of love or fall in love with another person; she is incapable of following a man if there is a risk in doing so. In confirmation of these words, Olga throws Oblomov, realizing that his “awakening” is temporary, that she cannot withstand the “Oblomovism”.

In relations with Oblomov, Olga was, as it were, the head. Having chosen Stolz, she is trying to find a rather equal husband or, even worse for Olga, a husband who is trying to subjugate her. At first, Olga finds happiness in the person of Stolz, but as they get to know each other, she begins to understand that there is nothing special in life with him, that she is the same as everyone else.

How does Stolz react to this? This young man undoubtedly resembles his father, who tried to make him a man who understands not feelings, but deeds. Stolz lives by reason, not demanding anything supernatural from life. “He walked firmly, cheerfully; lived on a budget, trying to spend every day, like every ruble ... ”

All the time he sees in Olga a child whom he amuses and teaches. But she is changing, and, trying to understand what is now the meaning of life for her, Stolz falls in love with Olga.

Having learned about the affair with Oblomov, he sighs with relief: “My God, if I knew that it was about Oblomov, would I suffer like that!”

By marrying Olga, Stoltz finds happiness. Now he has everything. But Olga is getting more and more disappointed every day. She knows that there will be nothing new, and more and more often she indulges in memories of Oblomov. Olga asks herself: “Have you already completed the circle of life?” Stolz's life goals have limits, and, having learned about the torment of his wife, he answers her: “We are not Titans with you ... we will not go ... to a daring fight against rebellious issues, we will not accept their challenge, we will bow our heads and humbly survive difficult moment..."

Oblomov, on the other hand, finds happiness in the house of Agafya Matveevna, which has become for him a second Oblomovka. He is ashamed of such a life, he understands that he lived it in vain, but it is too late to change anything.

The love of Oblomov and Olga was doomed from the very beginning.

Oblomov's feelings were sincere, and in Olga's feelings a consistent calculation was visible. Olga tried to change Ilya Ilyich, but he needed a different feeling that connected him with his beloved Oblomovka, where the meaning of life fits into thoughts about food, about sleep, in idle conversations. He needed care, warmth, demanding nothing in return, and therefore he became attached to his mistress as to a dream come true about returning.

Although Oblomov is the first to understand the dissimilarity of their characters, it is Olga who breaks the relationship between them. In the last conversation, Olga tells Ilya Ilyich that she loved the future Oblomov. Assessing the relationship between Oblomov and Olga, Dobrolyubov wrote: “Olga left Oblomov when she stopped believing in him; she will leave Stolz too, if she stops believing in him.”

In our life, there are also a lot of Stoltsev, who almost always find their happiness, but there are also many such as Oblomov and Olga, because the questions “How to live?” and “Why live?” tormented, tormented and will torment more than one generation.

The novel "Oblomov" is the most striking work of I. A. Goncharov. The author has been working on it for over 10 years. The main storyline of the work "Oblomov" is the love story of Ilya Ilyich for Olga Ilyinskaya. It is often said about such people that they are made of different dough. However, it often happens that life brings together completely opposite people. Let's try to understand what these two characters are, and analyze why the relationship between Oblomov and Olga developed in this way.

Ilya Ilyich

Oblomov's life would most likely be called inactive. He has little interest in anything, does not go out anywhere, does not read books. The hero's favorite pastime is lying in a bathrobe on the couch. He simply does not see the point in activities, Oblomov loves to dream.

A friend who came to visit him, Andrei Ivanovich Stolz, is the opposite of the protagonist. He's trying to make a difference in his life. The relationship between Oblomov and Olga began precisely thanks to him.

Acquaintance with Olga

So, Stolz is trying to stir up Oblomov. They go to visit together, Stolz makes him read, introduces him to an interesting girl, who turned out to be Olga Ilyinskaya.

This acquaintance awakens strong feelings in the main character. He declares to the girl in love. Oblomov and Olga, whose relationship, it would seem, could not begin at all, nevertheless began to meet. The girl considers love for Ilya Ilyich her duty. She wants to change him, make him live differently.

Changes in Oblomov's life

The main character's life has really changed. He begins to be quite active. Ilya Ilyich now gets up at seven in the morning and reads. Colors appear on the face, fatigue disappears completely.

Love for Olga makes Oblomov show his best qualities. As Goncharov notes, Ilya Ilyich, to some extent, "caught up with life."

However, the solution of practical issues still burdens him. He is not interested in building a house in Oblomovka, leading the way to the village. Moreover, the relationship between Oblomov and Olga gives rise to in him a lack of confidence in his abilities, in himself. Then he comes to the realization that Olga does not love him. She is demanding, persistent, strict, exacting. The holiday of love has become a duty, even a duty.

The relationship between Oblomov and Olga ends, he again puts on a dressing gown and leads his former way of life.

Olga Ilyinskaya and Agafya Pshenitsyna

In his novel, Goncharov writes about two women who loved Oblomov. The first, Olga Ilyinskaya, is active and educated. She sings well, is interested in art, literature and science. Possessing high spiritual qualities, she was able to understand the nobility of Oblomov's soul. However, Olga sees flaws in the nature of Ilya Ilyich. She does not like his passivity, inactivity, laziness. Rather, she loves her noble mission, thanks to which the spiritual revival of the protagonist should happen. The girl is not devoid of vanity. She is pleased with the thought that she will be the cause of his "awakening".

It was precisely because there was a lot of desire to remake the other in this love that Oblomov and Olga parted. Relationships based on demands and claims to another person are doomed to failure.

The complete opposite of Olga was Agafya Matveevna Pshenitsyna - the second woman who loved Oblomov. She, of course, did not have the education of Ilinskaya and did not understand his mind, did not see spiritual wealth. Agafya Matveevna fed him tasty food and simply made Ilya Ilyich's life comfortable.

Oblomov's female ideal

The girl’s inconsistency with the ideals of Ilya Ilyich is another reason why Olga Ilyinskaya and Oblomov could not be together. The relationship of these heroes was based on admiration for beauty and an ambitious desire to remake a loved one.

It's no secret that in love we often look for those ideals that we learned in childhood. Demanding Olga encourages Oblomov to act, to think, and he is looking for harmony and peace that his beloved woman can provide.

Olga Ilyinskaya and Oblomov, whose relationship did not last long, get acquainted, as we remember, through a mutual friend Andrei Stolz. This girl breaks into his life and for some time pulls him out of the world of inaction and dreams.

Agafya Matveevna, the landlady of the apartment rented by Oblomov, appears in his life somehow quite normally, almost imperceptibly. The main character likes to talk a little with her, he notes her housekeeping, even disposition. However, she does not cause any excitement in his soul.

Unlike Olga, Agafya Matveevna does not try to elevate Oblomov to her ideal, she considers his breed than herself. As you know, it is important for a man to be loved for who he is, without trying to remake him. Agafya Matveevna becomes for Oblomov the personification of female virtue.

Ilyinskaya were based on her ideas about happiness. Agafya Matveevna thought only of the comfort and convenience of Ilya Ilyich. Olga constantly forced Oblomov to act, for her sake he had to step over himself. Agafya Matveevna, on the contrary, tries to save the main character from unnecessary trouble. She even mortgages her property so that Oblomov does not give up his favorite habits.

The relationship between Oblomov and Olga Ilyinskaya was not possible due to the discrepancy between these two characters. Goncharov brings us to the understanding that it was Agafya Matveevna who embodied the ideal of the protagonist's woman. He married this kind, hard-working woman. Life with Olga would not bring happiness to either him or her, because their goals are completely different.

Life with Agafya Matveevna became for Oblomov the embodiment of calmness, satiety, comfort. With her, Ilya Ilyich seemed to have returned to the happy days of his childhood, filled with the love and cares of his mother.

Ivan Goncharov's novel "Oblomov" was published in 1859, almost immediately exciting the writer's contemporaries and interested critics in the complexity of the characters described and the ambiguity of the questions raised by the author. One of the leitmotifs of the novel is the theme of love, which is most clearly revealed through the image of the protagonist - Ilya Ilyich Oblomov. The reader gets acquainted with the character at the very beginning of the work as a dreamy, apathetic, lazy person who does not want to do anything. And if it were not for the feeling that suddenly flared up for Olga Ilyinskaya, in the fate of the hero, most likely, nothing significant would have happened. The love in Oblomov's life for Olga became the very turning point when a person must choose: to move on or leave everything as it is. Ilya Ilyich was not ready to change, so their relationship ended in parting. But spontaneous feelings were replaced by a quiet, peaceful life in the house of Agafya Pshenitsyna, which, nevertheless, led to the early death of Ilya Ilyich.

Oblomov's two loves in Goncharov's novel embodied two female images, two examples of the realization of feelings for a loved one, and two paths for the protagonist, which had a tragic ending. Why was not a single woman able to pull Ilya Ilyich out of the swamp of "Oblomovism"? The answer lies in the characteristics of the characters of the heroines and the life priorities of Oblomov himself.

Oblomov and Olga Ilinskaya

The feelings of Olga and Oblomov developed rapidly, almost from the first meeting the characters felt attracted to each other: Ilya Ilyich was fascinated by the harmony, intelligence and inner beauty of Ilyinskaya, and the girl was attracted by the kindness, complaisance and tenderness of a man. And, it would seem, the strong feelings that flared up between the characters could develop and become an aid to a happy family life. However, differences in the characters of the characters and a different vision of an ideal life together led to the early parting of Oblomov and Olga.

Ilya Ilyich saw in the girl the ideal of an “Oblomov” woman, capable of creating for him a calm home comfort, a life in which every day will be like another, and that will be good - no shocks, misfortunes and experiences. For Olga, this state of affairs was not only unacceptable, but also terrifying. The girl dreamed of changing Oblomov, eradicating all apathy and laziness in him, making him a bright, forward-looking, active person. For Olga, the feelings themselves gradually faded into the background, while duty and the “highest” goal became the leader in the relationship - to make Oblomov some semblance of his ideal. But Ilya Ilyich, perhaps because of his sensitivity, and perhaps because he was much older than the girl, was the first to understand that he could become a burden for her, a ballast that would pull her towards the hated "Obolomovism" and would not be able to give her that happiness, about which she dreams.

The relationship between Oblomov and Olga Ilyinskaya was a spontaneous, but fleeting feeling, as evidenced even by the fact that they met in the spring and parted in the late autumn. Their love really was like a fragile lilac branch, which, having given the world its beauty, will inevitably fade.

Oblomov and Agafya Pshenitsyna

The relationship between Oblomov and Agafya Pshenitsyna had a completely different character than the stormy, bright, memorable love between Ilya Ilyich and Olga. For the hero, the care of soft, quiet, kind and economic Agafya acted as a healing balm, helping to restore mental strength after a tragic break with Ilyinskaya. Gradually, without noticing it, Oblomov fell in love with Pshenitsyna, and the woman fell in love with Ilya Ilyich. Unlike Olga, Agafya did not try to idealize her husband, she adored him for who he was, was even ready to pawn her own jewelry so that he did not need anything, was always full and surrounded by warmth and comfort.

The love of Agafya and Oblomov became the very reflection of the hero’s illusions and dreams, to which he devoted many years, lying on the sofa in his apartment. Peace and tranquility, bordering on the degradation of the personality, complete detachment from the outside world and gradual dying, were the main life goal of the hero, the very Oblomov "paradise" without which he felt failed and unhappy, but which eventually destroyed him.

Oblomov, Agafya and Olga: the intersection of three destinies

Olga and Agafya in the novel "Oblomov" are two female characters opposed by the author. Ilyinskaya is the image of a modern, future-oriented, feminized girl who has her own personal opinion on everything, while Pshenitsyna is the embodiment of a truly Russian woman, the keeper of the hearth, obeying her husband in everything. For Olga, love was closely connected with a sense of duty, the duty to change Oblomov, while Agafya adored Ilya Ilyich, not even thinking that she might not like anything in him.
Oblomov's love for two important women in his life was also different. To Olga, the hero felt a really strong feeling, completely embracing him, which made him even for a while abandon his usual, lazy way of life and begin to act. For Agafya, he had a completely different love - similar to a feeling of gratitude and respect, calm and not exciting the soul, like their whole life together.

Love for Olga was a challenge for Oblomov, a kind of test, after which he, even if the beloved had parted anyway, might have been able to change, freeing himself from the fetters of "Oblomovism" and starting to live a full, active life. The hero did not want to change, did not want to give up dreams and illusions, and therefore remains with Pshenitsyna, even when Stolz offers to take him to her.

Conclusion

The main reason for Ilya Ilyich's immersion in "Oblomovism" and his gradual disintegration as a person lie not in Agafya's excessive concern, but in the hero himself. Already at the beginning of the work, he does not behave like a person interested in the world around him, his soul has long been living in a world of dreams, and he himself does not even try to return to real life. Love, as a resurrecting feeling, should have awakened the hero, released him from the "Oblomov" half-sleep, however, it was already too late (recall the words of Olga, who said that he had died a long time ago). Depicting Oblomov's love for Olga, and then for Agafya, Goncharov provides the reader with a wide field for reflection on the nature and meaning of love in the life of every person, the importance of this feeling in the fate of the reader himself.

Love is one of those feelings that can radically change a person. It is the desire to delight, pleasantly impress or attract the attention of your soulmate that can become the best motivation in life. This happened in the life of Ilya Ilyich Oblomov.

An unexpectedly flared feeling in relation to Olga Ilyinskaya not only made him get up from his chosen sofa, but also go out into the world and even take up his development.

Acquaintance of Oblomov and Ilyinskaya

The life of Ilya Ilyich Oblomov after his departure from the civil service proceeded according to the same scenario - he spent all his time at home and tried not to go anywhere. From time to time, acquaintances came to him - some with selfish goals would enrich themselves at the expense of Oblomov, others to exchange news. However, neither the first nor the second succeeded in changing Oblomov's habits and forcing him to lead a more active way of life.

The only person who managed to achieve at least some changes was Andrey Stolz, a childhood friend. On one of his regular visits, he actively takes up the reformation of his friend's life.
It was spring, nature was reborn and impressed with its strength and beauty. In one of these lovely spring evenings, Ilya Oblomov was also reborn. Andrei Stoltz introduced him to his friend Olga Ilyinskaya.

Let's take a look at the lifelong trilogy.

At this moment, the life of Ilya Ilyich changed beyond recognition. It was at this moment that he experienced a hitherto unknown feeling - love. Some excitement in Oblomov arose already at his first meeting with the girl.

He was fascinated by her external beauty, demeanor and her attitude towards his person. Since then, Olga has not left the thoughts of Ilya Ilyich. Olga herself was not captivated by Oblomov. She developed an interest in him as a new person. Oblomov attracted her attention with his awkwardness, strange behavior, he seemed to her a sweet eccentric, but the girl did not have love at first sight.

Their next meeting took place at the Ilyinsky's dacha - the impressionable Oblomov could not hide his admiration for the girl, which created an awkward situation. It is from this moment that Olga begins to consider Oblomov not only as an acquaintance.

The next event further convinced the girl of Oblomov's attachment to her. When Olga played music, Oblomov was so moved that he betrayed his true feelings towards the girl. Embarrassed by his act, he promptly leaves Olga's society. This event can rightly be considered the beginning of relations between Oblomov and Ilyinskaya.

Development of a relationship

The further development of their relationship took place in the best traditions of romanticism - meetings in nature, long walks. Ilya Ilyich more and more often becomes a guest in his beloved's house. Olga became the person for whom Ilya Ilyich abandoned his beloved Oblomovism. He often began to appear in society, basically it was the society where you could see Olga, but for the homebody Ilya Ilyich, this was a breakthrough. Such changes greatly surprised all his acquaintances and servants.

Oblomov's metamorphoses did not end there - he began to actively read books - Olga really liked listening to the retelling of the plot of various works. He spends all his free time with a girl.

However, in the depths of his soul, Ilya Ilyich remained the same lazy Oblomov. Carried away by a new feeling, he decided to get up from the sofa, but he did not dare to change completely - his affairs in the family estate remained unresolved, no matter how Stolz called him to go abroad, Ilya Ilyich did not budge, although he already had everything ready to go.

Oblomov's letter to Ilinskaya

Ilya Ilyich was completely captivated by Olga. He surrendered to the feeling of love entirely and wanted Olga's love to be identical to his feeling, but, according to Ilya Ilyich, this did not happen - Oblomov believed that Ilyinskaya's love was insincere, the girl actually does not love Oblomov, but plays with him in this feeling out of pity.

Oblomov began to notice more and more often that those around him were significantly superior to him, and therefore a completely logical question arose - why Olga was with him, and not with one of these wonderful people.

The result of such reflections by Ilya Ilyich was a letter in which Oblomov decides to analyze their union and then announce the breakup to the girl.

In the same breath, the letter was written and soon given to Ilyinskaya. Ilya Ilyich could not overcome his curiosity, so he hid and began to spy on how the girl was reading the letter.

Olga was at a loss from Oblomov's decision. She was very upset and cried. Ilya Ilyich, who was hiding, felt remorse, he realized that his reproaches for the lack of love were unfounded - the lovers reconciled.

An offer of marriage

The relationship between Olga and Ilya Ilyich continues to develop, but does not go beyond the framework of platonic love. The lovers became very attached to each other. They even began to address each other on "you".

During one of the walks, Ilya Ilyich proposes to Olga. The girl took it calmly, but this news did not leave her indifferent - she was glad that Ilya Ilyich decided on such an act. It was at this moment that the lovers kissed for the first time.

Olga and Ilya Ilyich decide not to publicize their desire to get engaged - Oblomov is waiting for his family estate, where nothing has yet been done to improve things.

Suspicious Oblomov cannot decide on final changes in any way, he constantly postpones the solution of this issue.

The end of the relationship

Oblomov's apathy and laziness begin to worry Olga more and more - Oblomov is already considered a potential groom for Ilyinskaya even without an official announcement, but he does not seek to take any decisive action.

Now it became necessary for Olga to doubt the sincerity of his relationship. At first, she was very worried about his slowness, but then Oblomov's constant promises to restore order in the family estate began to weigh on her.

At this moment, Ilya Ilyich realizes that he is, in the eyes of the public, the groom of Ilyinskaya. This status frightens him very much, he wants to get rid of him, and besides, Oblomov’s euphoria about falling in love has already passed, nostalgia for Oblomov began to take its place.

The suspicious Ilya Ilyich does not dare to explain himself to Olga - he began to come up with excuses to cancel the meeting with his beloved, from time to time he resorts to lies.

Naturally, this could not last forever - the deception was revealed by Olga. The girl decides to finally end the relationship.

Symbolically, their relationship ends in late autumn with the first snow.

Life after the break

If we analyze the personal characteristics of the heroes, then one could assume such a development of events - Oblomov and Ilyinskaya are very different both in their temperament and in their life goals.

We invite you to familiarize yourself with the work of I. Goncharov “Oblomov”

Oblomov was already a mature personality - it was difficult for him to give up his long-term habits, while Olga is a young girl - she is active and purposeful. Olga has an inquisitive mind, she is interested in personal development, which is not at all typical for Oblomov.

The rupture of relations significantly influenced the further fate of both heroes. Oblomov at first was very worried about this, but, soon, he was again sucked into the swamp of Oblomovism.

In addition, Agafya Pshenitsyna was next to him, who did not seek to change him and even admired his Oblomovism. More and more often, Oblomov finds solace in communicating with this poorly educated woman and her children - as a result, Ilya Ilyich falls in love and begins to live with Pshenitsyna as a legal wife. The result of such a relationship was a joint son - Andrei.

Olga's fate at first was not so favorable. In view of her youth, Olga is very worried about parting - she loses interest in individuals of the opposite sex and in life in general.

Some time later, she meets Andrei Stolz and tells him everything that happened between her and Oblomov. Andrei is in love with her and proposes to the girl - Olga agrees, although she does not love Andrei. Despite not reciprocity, they were able to become happy in marriage.

Thus, the love relationship of Olga Ilyinskaya and Ilya Oblomov was doomed from the very beginning. Oblomov was no longer at the age when he could give up his habits and change, while Olga was his absolute opposite. Active and determined, she would be extremely disappointed with family life with Oblomov.
