In a word, where this wonderful writer and person was born and lived his long life.

And he was born on Ural, in the family of a mining foreman. Since childhood, he was attracted to people, legends, fairy tales and songs of our native Urals. And the unusual teacher had accumulated many such notebooks by the time the revolution took place in our country.

Progress of the game

Opening speech by the teacher (leader)

The Mistress of the Copper Mountain put her jewelry - jewelry made of semi-precious stones - into the malachite box. We now have another “Malachite Box” in front of us, and it is no worse: it contains wonderful, bright, fascinating tales of Pavel Petrovich Bazhov, a Ural storyteller, a true master of his craft. Each of his tales, be it “A Fragile Twig” or “The Jumping Fire Girl” or “Golden Hair”, is a little jewel: there is so much kindness in it, love for people, so much poetry. With what respect Pavel Petrovich writes about the Ural craftsmen: miners, foundries, lapidaries, blacksmiths... How interestingly he describes the customs and signs of the old Urals, its legends and fables...

P.P. Bazhov was born in 1879 in the Urals into the family of a worker at the same Sysert plant, which is mentioned in many tales. His father was a proud and talented man, his mother was a skilled lacemaker. Bazhov described his childhood years in the story “The Green Filly”. First he studied at a factory school, then in Yekaterinburg, at a theological school and seminary - there was the lowest tuition fee. Then he worked as a teacher, traveled a lot around the Urals, Siberia, Altai, collecting “memento bundles” for himself - folklore, folklore. Later he became a journalist, and in 1936 his first tales were published. The readers really liked them. In 1939, the first book, “The Malachite Box,” was published. And for more than 60 years, the Bazhov rocks have been read and re-read with joy and gratitude.

Questions for the teams.

1. Where and when do the events take place in P.P.’s tales? Bazhova? (In the Urals, most likely in the 19th, sometimes in the 18th century or without time.)

2. Why P.P. Bazhov called them skaz, not fairy tales? (Fairy tales are about real life, only occasionally framed by miracles; the characters and customs are recognizable, historical, you definitely feel the personality of who is “telling”, his attitude; a tale is an oral form of speech transferred to a book)

"Mistress of the Copper Mountain"

What was the Mistress of the Copper Mountain's dress made of? (From selected silk malachite).

How does the Mistress of the Copper Mountain behave and what does she look like? (Looks like an ordinary girl, her braid is “gray-black” and “smoothly stuck to her back”; the ribbons in the braid are either red or green and ring like sheet copper; she’s small in stature, looks good and won’t sit still - “ artut-girl"; behaves mockingly, smartly, quick-tempered, fastidious, sharp-tongued, generous; quickly transforms from an ordinary earthly, sometimes suffering, into a powerful, independent, insidious Mistress, an almighty sorceress of the Ural Mountains).

What animals were she talking about and why did she say: “My army”? (About lizards and snakes).

What did the Mistress of the Copper Mountain tell Stepan to do? (Tell the clerk to get out of the Krasnogorsk mine).

Why did she praise Stepan twice as much? (For the fact that Stepan “didn’t overspend on wealth, didn’t exchange his bride”).

What did she give Stepan for his bride? (A malachite box with all sorts of “female equipment” - jewelry).

Why did Stepan get his freedom? (For the fact that first he found a malachite block of 100 pounds, and then malachite stones of such a size that pillars of at least five fathoms in length could be cut out of them).

What was the third test assigned to Stepan by the Mistress? Did he survive it? (Don’t remember about the Mistress; Stepan stood him up: “he became gloomy and lost his health,” and kept going hunting to the Krasnogorsk mine, and there he disappeared).

What kind of pebbles were found in Stepan’s hand? (A handful of copper emerald is the Mistress’s tear; when they tried to take them, they crumbled into dust).

"Malachite Box"

1. What does a meeting with the Mistress of the Copper Mountain promise? (“For the bad man to meet her is grief, and for the good man there is little joy.”)

2. What was Stepan’s daughter’s name? (A reminder, in memory of the past: in words - about work in grief, in deeds - about a meeting with the Mistress.)

3. What happened when Nastasya put on jewelry made of stones? Why do you think? (She was cold, painful, uncomfortable.)

4. What happened when Tanya put them on? (Everything suited her, and seemed to “cling” to her skin.)

5. How did jewelry once help Tanya escape from an unkind person? (This man was almost blinded by the sight of the decorations, as if “hit by the sun,” and he ran away.)

6. What kind of needlework did the wanderer teach Tanya? (Sewing with silks.)

7. What did Tanya see when she tried on jewelry in front of the wanderer? (A piece of the future: a green-eyed beauty in the royal chambers.)

8. What did the wanderer leave for the girl when she left? (A bundle with silks and beads and a “memo” button: if a problem arises, the answer will be in the button.)

9. Why did Nastasya decide to sell the box? (The family remained fire victims.)

10. What condition did Tanya set for the master when he wooed her? (Tanyushka told the master: “If you show me the queen in the royal chambers, decorated with my father’s malachite, I will marry you.”)

11. Why did the craftsmen refuse to “fit” the jewelry for the clerk’s wife? (They knew whose work it was, and if the master doesn’t want the stones to fit, then you won’t be able to fit them; and you shouldn’t mess with the Mistress...)

12. What happened to Tanya at the end of the story? (She “leaned against the malachite wall and melted”; the stones turned into drops, only the master got the button, and from then on the Mistress began to double.)

13. Why did Tanya behave this way with the master? (Firstly, he did not fulfill the conditions, secondly, he is not a match for her in any respect, thirdly, a meeting with the Mistress is always not good)

14. Describe the character of Tanya, is there any similarity with the Mistress of the Copper Mountain?

will eat.")

5. What did she find in the mine? (Tayutka dug up “a stone mirror - the frame was clearly outlined from the rock, as if it had been carved by hand. In case of an incorrect answer, points are deducted from the answerer’s account, and the remaining players get the right to give their answer. If no one answers the question within three seconds, the presenter announces the correct answer, and the next question is chosen by the same player who chose the previous question.

Probably, almost everyone at least once in their life has probably heard about the Mistress of the Copper Mountain, the Jumping Firefly or the Silver Hoof. And no wonder! After all, these characters have long been known and loved not only in their Ural homeland, but throughout the world far beyond its borders. And in the Urals itself they are so popular that they are placed not only on souvenirs and candy boxes, but even on the coats of arms of some cities. Like this! And for those of you who have not yet gotten to know these characters, today is the time to expand your horizons! Because we dedicate this quiz on our children's website to the tales of Pavel Petrovich Bazhov, a famous Ural writer who gave us these wonderful images and stories.

Bazhov was born on January 27, 1879 in the Urals, in the small town of Sysert. His father was a foreman at a mining plant, and his mother was a lacemaker (i.e., a craftswoman who makes lace). They lived poorly, and the family moved often - the father worked first at one factory, then at another. These travels through the metallurgical towns of the Urals made a huge impression on the future writer. They say that he really loved to visit the village of Polevaya (the present-day town of Polevsky) and listen to the stories of Vasily Alekseevich Khmelinin, who lived there - “Grandfather Slyshko,” as the guys called him. Slyshko got angry when the boys asked him to tell a fairy tale: “Old women tell little ones fairy tales. And I remember about old life. Only these are not fairy tales, but tales and experiences that are called. It’s different, hear me, and not everyone can say it. You have to be careful. And you say fairy tales!

It’s interesting that the Bazhovs’ surname was originally written as Bazhev, and “bazhit” means “to cast a spell, to cast a spell” in the northern language. This is where Bazhov’s boyish nickname came from - Koldunkov, which later became one of the writer’s literary pseudonyms - Koldunkov Yegorsha.

After graduating from the Perm Theological Seminary in 1899, Bazhov worked as a teacher of the Russian language. In 1911, he married his student, Valentina Alexandrovna (nee Ivanitskaya). The family had seven children, but in the hard years Pavel and Valentina lost three. Bazhov spent his free time from work traveling around his native land - recording the stories of workers, studying the work of stone cutters, steelworkers, lapidaries, gunsmiths and other craftsmen of the Urals, collecting folklore, mining legends and ancient oral traditions - the so-called “secret tales”, many of which Grandfather Slyshko told him as a child.

In the October Revolution, Bazhov saw the end of social inequality. During the Civil War, at the end of April-beginning of May 1918, he arrived in the Semipalatinsk province, and in June 1918 - in the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk (Kazakhstan). He immediately got involved in organizing the underground and unified resistance tactics in the event of the fall of Soviet power in the region and district. He fought on the side of the Reds, was the head of the information department of the headquarters of the 29th division, edited the army newspaper, published his essays, stories and feuilletons on the pages of Trench Pravda, for a year was a member of the Semipalatinsk provincial party committee, participated in the creation of partisan detachments in Altai and Siberia .

At the end of 1921, due to a serious illness and at the request of the Kamyshlov executive committee, Bazhov returned to his native Urals, to the city of Kamyshlov (the main reason was denunciations in the Provincial Cheka of Semipalatinsk about his inaction during the period of Kolchak’s power), where he continued his journalistic and literary activities, wrote books on history of the Urals, collects folklore records. In 1923-1931. works for the regional “Peasant Newspaper”. Bazhov’s first book of essays, “The Ural Were,” was published in 1924. In 1936, the magazine published the first of his Ural tales, “The Maiden of Azovka,” which brought Bazhov fame overnight, and in 1939, the first edition of “Tales of the Old Urals” was published - this was the original title of the collection “The Malachite Box.” Subsequently, the author repeatedly replenished it with new tales - they became the main work of his life. To date, “The Malachite Box” has been reprinted many times in millions of copies and translated into dozens of languages around the world.

For our quiz, we took two tales from “The Malachite Box” - “The Stone Flower” and “The Mining Master”: those that tell us the story of the stone-cutter Danila the master and his brave bride Katerina. We will not retell it here, we will only note that readers loved it so much that it was filmed more than once, and also plays, ballets and even operas were staged based on it! But more interesting than all the cartoons and performances, of course, are the tales themselves. So, we wish you a fascinating read, and good luck in solving the quiz!
