Rest in the fox bay Crimea. All about Fox Bay in Crimea

Fox Bay: mountains and sea

Fox Bay is not even quite a bay, but rather a smooth bend of the coastline from Karadag to Meganom, with the general name Chalka Bay. The nearest villages are Kurortnoye (2 km along the coast) and Schebetovka (3 km across the mountain).

Fox Bay is located under the highest of the sloping platforms located in the cliffs of the terraces of the Echki-dag massif. It is adjoined by a hundred-meter ledge made of gray clay, all indented by ravines and gullies. The bare gray slopes are only occasionally diversified by long green lashes of capers. Flat dunes and sandy plumes are overgrown with spikelets, sea mustard and saltpetre. In the depressions of the ravines there are small trees and low thorny bushes.

They say that the old name of the bay is “Lysaya”, because of the shores devoid of vegetation. Over time, the name of the bay was transformed into "Fox", it has nothing to do with foxes.

The hills adjacent to the coast of the bay are highly susceptible to landslides. Moreover, the most active landslides can move by 10-12 meters per year. In the Conclusion of the geological examination carried out by the Yalta Engineering and Geological Party and dated 07.14.89, it is written in black and white: "Any economic activity on the slopes associated with the violation of the natural regime of landslides invariably causes their sharp activation." Crawling slopes are able to literally "break" the strongest foundation. From the Conclusion: “The costs of engineering preparation, protection of the territory and the operation of structures may turn out to be record-breaking in comparison with other regions of the southeastern Crimea. In this case, the natural environment of the tract will be irreversibly disturbed. "

The same conclusion states that the beaches of Fox Bay are “in a state of unstable dynamic equilibrium,” which means one thing: if this delicate balance is upset, the changes will be irreversible. The beach of Fox Bay is replenished due to the flow of stones from the mountains during heavy rains. It consists of small dark pebbles and sand from ground shells. A little further, the sand ends and a pebble beach begins. Among the pebbles of Fox Bay, sometimes you come across carnelians brought by the sea from Karadag. There are few of them: the concrete walls of the buns of the Crimean Primorye boarding house, built in Kurortnoye, almost blocked the movement of sea sediments.

The bottom of the bay is even, the descent into the water is smooth, but occasionally very large stones come across. If there is no storm, the water is always clear. The storm raises the clay washed from the shore from the bottom. A day after the storm, the water is clear again - to the delight of diving enthusiasts who definitely have something to do in Fox Bay. Unlike those who want to climb the mountains: apart from the neighboring Echki-dag, there are few objects for mountain walks.

Fox Bay is interesting for biologists, but poisonous snakes and insects have not been seen in its vicinity. In Fox Bay, there is no animal worse than a crab, and jellyfish appear only after a storm.

According to the decision of the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea of 10.09.2008, Lisya Bukhta and Echki-Dag are a regional landscape park. According to the Law "On the Natural Reserve Fund of Ukraine", landscape parks "are created with the aim of preserving typical or unique natural complexes and objects in the natural state, as well as providing conditions for organized recreation of the population."

Fox Bay: who lived here

Fox Bay is widely known among nudists throughout the former Soviet Union. But historians testify that modern nudists are not the first people who chose the bay to live in the nude. The first were the Pithecanthropus. Archaeologists assure that the area of Fox Bay and Echki-Dag has been mastered by man since ancient times. About 20 sites of the prehuman were found here. Tools obtained from pebbles of hard rocks and purposefully sharpened at one end are proto-choppers, proto-scrapers, etc. These findings date back to the Ancient Stone Age (more than 100-150 thousand years ago), the time when humans were formed as a biological species. Scientists have known for a long time, but the general public is not aware of the fact that Fox Bay and the foothills of Echki-Dag are the places where the most ancient archaeological monuments were found throughout Eastern Ukraine.

In the Bronze Age (4-3 millennia BC), the territory of the southeastern Crimea was already actively developed. In the area of Fox Bay, the Chalka settlement with a long-term cultural layer of ash, fragments of molded utensils and stone tools, and split bones of wild and domestic animals has been well studied. Found traces of primitive dwellings and burials.

In ancient times, the area of Echki-Dag and Fox Bay belonged to the possessions of the Taurians, as evidenced by traces of settlements, camps and burial grounds made of stone boxes-dolmens. The militancy of the Taurians, probably, was the reason that no traces of the presence of ancient colonists on the territory of Fox Bay were found. But that the ancient Greeks sailed along these shores is beyond doubt.

In the 40s of the VIII century, icon-worshipers from Byzantium appeared in the Crimea. On the territory of the Otuz Valley (near Shchebetovka), archaeologists have discovered about 15 settlements of this period. Then the Khazars invaded (VIII century) and destroyed all the Byzantine settlements. After the collapse of the Khazar Kaganate (971), Byzantium again established its influence in the Eastern Crimea. After the Byzantines, these lands were ruled by the Venetians (XII century), then the Genoese (XII-XIV centuries), together with them - Crimean Tatars, both of them were driven out by the Turks (1475) ...

The change of "masters" of the territory, whose interests were reduced mainly to collecting tribute, had very little effect on the life of the coastal population, which from century to century continued to live within the framework of the same economic structure. It was mainly engaged in agriculture and cattle breeding, using the slopes of neighboring mountains and valleys for this. The environs of Echki-Dag and Fox Bay have preserved numerous traces of sheep shelters and other shepherd structures. For centuries, their owners drove their sheep to the same pastures, using the same water sources for watering, many of which are still functioning, and built their houses on the same areas suitable for habitation. Traces of houses and planting of cultivated plants, already completely wild, can still be seen in the territories adjacent to Fox Bay and Echki-Dag.

In the XVIII century. unfolded a series of Russian-Turkish wars, which ended in the annexation of Crimea to Russian Empire in 1783. In the Soviet years, the surroundings of neighboring Schebetovka and Kurortny were planted with numerous vineyards, and this does not pass by the attention of the modern population of Fox Bay. Since the middle of the 20th century, it has become a Mecca for informal youth and nudists. This caused a certain concern for the military: not far, on Karadag, was and is now the border part. The following situation is described in the book by Alexander and Andrey Yena "The Crimean Navigation" (2008):

“Along the coast, strewn with naked bodies from all over the USSR, a border boat is slowly passing in one direction or the other. On the bridge there is an officer dressed in an ironed summer uniform-2, in a white cap, with a black tie (for sailors this is a summer uniform) and desperately calling out over the loudspeaker: “Citizens, you are near the state border of the USSR. Get dressed immediately! " Nudists silently watched the military boat, and the poor officer periodically wiped sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief - girls came to Fox Bay wow ... "

Fox Bay: who lives here

Rumors about how pleasant it is to relax in Liska spread far beyond the Crimea. Every year hundreds of people come to the bay to see for themselves. People are completely different: hippies, yogis, punks, psychics, psychologists ... Here you can meet a biologist who studies rare plants, a punk with a bottle of vodka, or a respectable family who came to rest. Echki-Dag was chosen by rock climbers and active tourists who are not too lazy to spend more than an hour every day descending and climbing the mountain, for the sake of swimming in the sea. Like many other "cult" places of the Crimea, Fox Bay attracts people with its beauty and meetings with interesting people.

The camp population is fluid. Constantly someone comes and goes. More than a hundred people gather in August. Many travel with families, with children and relatives. Here, in Fox Bay, they meet old lost acquaintances and make new friends and girlfriends. They constantly visit each other (as the inhabitants of Liska themselves say: "Winnie the Pooh is resting!"), In the evenings they sing and play all kinds of musical instruments.

Among the camp there are a number of structures made of a combination of reeds and tents, the so-called "Jamaica". The flag of the said state even flies over them. In this place, reggae and drums always sound. Other "quarters" of the camp also have their own names: "Zelenka", "Jackalka", "Cuba", "Nyushka", "Piccadilly", "Pistachio Grove" and others.

The camp environment is friendly and pleasant. The average age of the audience is 20-35 years old. Many come here at the first opportunity and sincerely believe that Fox Bay attracts like a magnet. She also has her own website, which is authored by Little John AKA Evgeniy Simokhin.

Fox Bay: how to live here

There are tents everywhere: on the beach, on the hills, in the forest clearings of the neighboring Echki-dag. There are no problems with a place for tents: there is a lot of it. There is less drinking water: it is only available in the springs, on Echki-Dag. There are three springs: upper, lower and forest. From the coast to them 15-20 minutes walk. Therefore, those who are going to rest in Fox Bay are always advised to stock up on water tanks, counting them at least 10 liters per person per day.

The problem with wood is solved much worse than with water. The slopes around Fox Bay sunbathe naked - just like its inhabitants. Partially, the surroundings of the bay are "stripped" precisely because of the tourists. Small stocks of dry firewood accumulated over the winter completely disappear by the beginning of July. Therefore, we must take a primus.

Unfortunately, the problem with the toilet and waste disposal has been solved traditionally, that is, in no way. Those who come to Fox Bay at the beginning of the season have a well-known advantage in terms of hygiene and cleanliness. Those who arrived in August fully experience the cultural level of their predecessors, some of whom differ from Pithecanthropus only in the presence of a mobile phone.

Despite the fact that most of the inhabitants of the bay come here to take a break from "civilization", it does not go anywhere. On the shore of Fox Bay, tent-type cafes with a standard "kiosk" set are already firmly established: beer, shashlik, pasties ... Everything is prepared right near the entrance, no one observes basic sanitary conditions. Almost every such cafe-shed is equipped with karaoke, and the sound of the sea surf is often drowned out by someone's attempts to pretend to be a pop star. It is unlikely that the barbecue smoke and the cacophony of karaoke add positive impressions about Fox Bay. Some people like it, some don't. But in any case, you need to come to Fox Bay at least for a day - to see with your own eyes this famous place in the entire former USSR and form your own opinion about it.

On the southern coast of Crimea. The section of the beach in Fox Bay between the villages of Kurortnoye and Pribrezhnoye is not very populated with tourists and is a famous resting place for naturists, hippies and other informals.

Fox Bay is located under the Echki-Dag mountain range, often called "Three Brothers" - these are three peaks protruding one above the other - Delyamet-Kaya (611 m), Kara-Oba, Kokush-Kaya. Translated from the Crimean Tatar, the name of the mountain is deciphered as "goat mountain" (ecki - goat, dag - mountain). Delamet is a Turkic name, most likely this is a distorted name of Delalet-Kaya, Delalet is translated as a sign, a mark, then the translation will sound like the Sign Rock. Kokush-Kaya is translated as "turkey rock" (Crimean Tat. Kokus - turkey, qaya - rock) and has a height of 570 meters and the highest Kara-Oba is "black hill" (Crimean Tat. Qara - black, oba - hill ), 670 meters high. Mount Echki-Dag is one of the highest in the area. From the bay it is easy to go by a narrow passage to the Sun Valley - a good place where you can walk and pick berries in the vineyard or climb the mountains and enjoy the views.

In Liska - this is how the bay is affectionately called, there are names for different parts of the bay (settlements): Uganda, Jackalka, Cuba, Jamaica, Goa, Piccadilly, Zelenka, Nyushka.

“Jackalka” tourists call that part of the bay, which can be reached by car, is also considered by the local as a place for “majors”. The most popular and narrow part of the coast is called "Jamaica", and areas with infrastructure elements - shops and shalmans (taverns or pubs) are called "Piccadilly" and "Goa".

Fox Bay is about 4-5 kilometers long. At one time, about 20 sites of ancient people were discovered and investigated here by archaeologists. In ancient times, the area of Fox Bay and Echki-Dag belonged to the possessions of the Taurus. You can read more about the history of ancient Crimea here. The coastal relief of Fox Bay has an uneven, rugged character, the elevation differences are very impressive in places, and amount to hundreds of meters. Also, the bay can be described with many hills, plateaus and rocks. In the area of Mount Echki-Dag there are two useful springs (Lower and Upper sources), as well as the famous "" (Crimean Tat. Yernin Qulag) - a cave more than a hundred meters deep, which is little explored by tourists. In addition, one of the features of Fox Bay can be noted its desolation: there are no large buildings in the vicinity, only tents, of which there are more and more every year. The roads are only unpaved. It is also worth noting that there are five springs on Echki-Dag and in the immediate vicinity. fresh water, which is quite a lot for this region of Crimea.

In the summertime, on the beach, you can see several open portable shops with a small selection of food, and they form a small market for the season. Fox Bay is known for being one of the most famous naturist beaches not only on the entire southern coast of Crimea, but on the territory of the entire former CIS. The nudist coast and the well-known bay in a narrow circle is located between the villages of Pribrezhnoye and Kurortnoye. The film "New Earth" (2008) was also filmed here.

In the past decades, the coast is more and more built up with "wild" garages and boathouses from the Kurortny side.

In 2007, the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea adopted a resolution declaring Fox Bay with the adjacent natural area and sea area a landscape reserve of local importance "Fox Bay - Echki-Dag".

Some paths and descents to Fox Bay are quite dangerous because of the cliffs. A direct threat to the life of tourists is possible, provided that they are in a state of intoxication during descents and ascents in the mountains.

Fox Bay contains a large amount of gray volcanic clay (also called "keel"). It, like, is often used for taking mud baths.

Legend has it that the name of the bay comes from the sea fox. But locals claim that earlier the bay was called "Bald" because of the exposed coastal ledges that rise above it. If you look towards Fox Bay from the Karadag Ecological Trail (under the Holy Mountain), then the Lighthouse Hill looks like a fox frozen by the coast. Her nose collapsed into the sea in a huge block of limestone, which is now called Crab Cape.

From the fauna, one can note a small presence of mussels on some stones of the east coast, as well as crabs and just a huge number of seagulls. V last years As well as almost everywhere in the Black Sea, on the coast have bred rapans, which are not very friendly with mussels and other small bivalve molluscs. Fox Bay is home to many lizards, centipedes, rare species of snakes, from arthropods: different types spiders (karakurt, tarantulas), phalanxes are quite rare. You can also often see a hare, a fox and a hedgehog.

Also, off the coast of marine life, you can find sole, kalkan, red mullet, scorpion, mullet, gobies, sea burbot, katran, croaker, horse mackerel, sea dragon, and deeper, at a depth of more than 7-10 meters - sea fox and stingray - stingray.

The flora of the Fox Bay coastline is not rich due to the constant heat and is represented mainly by small trees and shrubs. Ephedra and capers can be found in the foothills. Oak groves are sometimes found on the slopes of the mountains.

In a calm sea, visibility in the water reaches ten meters. Among the pebbles in the bay there are carnelians (an orange-red variety of agate) brought by the sea from.

By the decision of the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea No. 659-5 / 07 of November 21, 2007, the territory with a total area of 1560 hectares, located outside the settlements of the Solnechnodolinsky village council (city) and the Schebetovsky village council (city), was declared a landscape reserve of local importance "Lisya Bay - Echki-Dag. This decision prevented the construction company TMM from starting construction of a recreational complex for 5,000 places in Lisya Bay, about which the company had an agreement with the Feodosiya City Council and the Schebetovsky Council.

A little later, the decision of the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea No. 970-5 / 08 of 09/17/2008 changed the status of the Lisya Bay - Echki-Dag landscape reserve of local importance to a less strict status in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Natural Reserve Fund" - a regional landscape park. What, in fact, allowed construction in Fox Bay, since in regional landscape parks it is allowed to create zones of stationary recreation (boarding houses, rest houses), regular recreation (tourism), as well as economic zones (with a broad definition). However, the construction of the recreational complex was not started, apparently due to the global financial crisis that began in autumn 2008.

According to the project of the recreational complex, a sanatorium should be built in Zelenka, and a water park in Shakalka. An independent study of the region's soils by St. Petersburg geologists for lithospheric shifts revealed the inconsistency of the project for the development of the Lisya Bay territory.

But in May 2016, they decided that now the territory of Fox Bay is divided into three zones:

- reserved (350 hectares) - intended for the protection and restoration of the most valuable natural complexes, the regime of which is defined as absolutely reserved;

- regulated recreation (885 hectares of land and 310 hectares of the Black Sea) - intended for short-term rest and health improvement of the population, inspection of the most picturesque and memorable places;

- economic (16 hectares) - intended for carrying out economic activities aimed at fulfilling the tasks facing the park.

It is also planned to create an ecological and educational combined cycling and walking route with observation platforms.

The coastal walking route 4.5 km long will pass from the village. Resort along the coast to the "Kinogorodok". The mountain hiking route with a length of 3.5 km will run from the pumping station of the village of Schebetovka to the peaks of Echki-Dag through the springs to the shore of Lisya Bay.

The nearest settlements are: Feodosia (30 km), Sudak (30 km), Kurortnoe (3 km), Schebetovka (4 km).

How to get there by public transport:

by bus Feodosia - Biostation to the village. Resort; Sudak - Feodosia to the village. Schebetovka, then by bus to the village. Kurortnoe, then walk along the sea (3 km);
on foot from Schebetovka you can get to Echki-Dag along the trail through the gully Gorge or along the dirt road following the gully Buran-Tash;
in Koktebel you can find a taxi boat;
by personal transport: from Feodosia or Sudak to the village. Shchebetovka, turn on with. Kurortnoye and after 2 km turn onto a dirt road leading through the pass to the park (the road is difficult and broken).

2016-11-09

To the southwest of Kurortnoye is the Fox Bay. This is a gently curving strip of the coast, stretching for almost 5 kilometers. The coastal relief is uneven here, with significant differences in altitude. The wide coast is covered with gray sand, both in water and on land.

Fox Bay or Fox, as it is often affectionately called, is a place for wild rest. There are no boarding houses or hotels nearby, but the number of his admirers is not decreasing. Every year the fox attracts hundreds of representatives of various subcultures: hippies, rastamans, nudists, and other informals. At the peak of the season, a real tent city unfolds on the coast of the bay, and the sounds of the guitar and cheerful laughter do not subside until dawn. Fox Bay - a state of mind!

You can get here from the village of Kurortnoye in half an hour along the path along the sea, past Crab cape and “watermelon”. There are two more hiking routes from Schebetovka to the fox through the mountains and from the Schebetovsky lake (Bryntsevsky rates). In good weather, you can get there by car, the road goes along unfinished sewage treatment plants, through vineyards and a mountain serpentine. The main thing is not to take a left turn (exit from the asphalt) if you move towards Shchebetovka.

Echki-Dag

The trail from Schebetovka to Liska

Liska is located at the foot of the Echki-Dag mountain range, the highest in the vicinity of the bay. The outlines of the ridge are recognizable from any point: these are three peaks, "three brothers", as they were called by the people. Echki-Dag - meaning "goat mountain" in the Turkic languages. One of the most interesting places in the entire mountain range is "Earth's Ear". This is a deep karst cave on the eastern slope of the Kokush-Kaya peak, which is a narrow, almost vertical tunnel 132 meters deep. There is a legend that this cave leads to the very center of the Earth. There are springs on Echki-Dag, after an exciting climb, you can always refresh yourself on one of them.
From Mount Echki-Dag a magnificent view of the village of Kurortnoye and the extinct volcano KaraDag opens.

Cinema town (Crimea)

Another interesting place in the vicinity of the bay is the cinema town. This is a real village in the oriental style, built by the Yalta Film Studio in 2004 for the filming of the film " Live fish". The movie was never filmed, but the scenery remained. They gradually deteriorate, but they attract vacationers from Liska. Youth festivals are often held here, companies of informals gather, although entry here is officially prohibited.

The Crimean coast is famous for Fox Bay, which is known for its atmosphere of complete freedom and wild beaches, as well as a stretch of sandy strip at the foot of the mountain. From the photographs, you can see that this bay is a Mecca for naturalists, youth and informals.

Fox Bay, which is also known as "Lysaya Bay" is located on the Kerch Peninsula. Now the bay is a nature reserve, which was created to protect the unique nature of this region, including all the diversity of flora and fauna.

The document, which confirmed this fact, was also approved to protect the bay from the construction of hotels. Thanks to this, the territory is not built up, but private houses are located near the village of Kurortnoye.

The relief is characterized by ruggedness and sharp changes in height. The highest point of the reserve is Echki-Dag (62 m). You can climb the mountain along one of four paths, two of which are located on the side of Fox Mountain. Climbing the mountain, you can see a picturesque view of the Kara-Dag, as well as the coastal area.

The origin of the name of the bay is still not exactly known, but there are several theories. The first theory says that the rocks of the bay resemble a fox, or rather a part of the head. Now it is impossible to see it, because the rock has collapsed. According to the second theory, the name is associated with the absence of large trees.

The locals can tell more, because this is not the end of the stories associated with the name of the bay. There are many interesting places here besides the beach.

What is the Crimean Fox Bay in reality?

Fox Bay in Crimea is an untouched beach, as well as wild nature, as evidenced by photos and reviews of experienced vacationers. Civilization only partially infiltrates areas of the bay such as "Goa" and "Piccadilly", where there are shops and cafes.

Fox Bay is a wide bay of the Black Sea, which is surrounded on all sides by mountain ranges. This makes it appear closed and detached from the outside world, which gives a certain charm to the surrounding territories.

Fox Bay (Crimea) beach photos are so different that it is worth coming on your own to explore the surroundings. Each area of the bay has its own characteristic features.

Among the most popular areas are:

  • Cuba;
  • Jamaica;
  • Uganda;
  • Piccadilly Circus;
  • Nyushka and others.

Also part of the Fox Bay is the natural park "Echki-Dag", this attraction is now the main tourist destination.

The bay is popular not only among Ukrainians and Russians, but also far beyond the borders, because a vacation in Crimea is great for budget travelers who value, first of all, not comfort, but freedom from prejudices and society. The nature of this region is no less attractive, which makes the bay one of the most beautiful places on the Crimean peninsula.

Fox Bay is the only such place that is not considered a nature reserve. T Also, this bay is one of the ecological zones of the Crimean Territory, thanks to its clean beaches and air. Another feature of this place is that, despite the archaeological excavations carried out, the bay is still poorly explored.

This place is especially popular in summer, when the tourist season comes in. Tourists who want to swim in the Black Sea and enjoy a beach holiday come to the bay. This season there are campers' tents throughout the territory.

There are places for everyone: those who want to retire, and tourists who want to spend time with a new company. The only difficulty that tourists may encounter is the presence of only three springs with water, which, as a rule, are located 15-20 minutes walk from the coast.

It is worth stocking up on drinking water in advance, as well as containers. It is also better to take a primus with you, because by the end of June you may have problems finding dry firewood. This is due to the large number of tourists who come not only for the weekend, but for the entire beach season.

Photo of the beach in Fox Bay (Crimea)

Separately, it should be noted that there are no toilets on the territory of the bay, as well as places for garbage disposal. Vacationers who come at the beginning of the tourist season, that is, in June, have the advantage here.

Fox Bay (Crimea) photo of the beach at the end of the beach season is quite shocking, because not all vacationers keep an eye on the cleanliness of this place, but it is worth coming here to get your own impression of the bay, which was previously known throughout the USSR and is now very popular among wildlife lovers.

Flora and fauna

The fauna is represented by a small number of mussels, which are located on the rocks of the east coast, as well as crabs and a large number of gulls. Rapana also bred, which exterminate mussels and other mollusks. Among the fauna that live on the coast, red mullet, goby, sea dragon, katran, sea fox and others can be distinguished.

In addition, lizards, snakes, centipedes, spiders, and phalanxes can be found on the territory of the bay. Larger animals also live here, for example, foxes, hares and hedgehogs. Jellyfish appear only after a storm, which is quite rare.

The flora is not very diverse here, because shrubs predominate, and ephedra and capers grow in the foothills.

How to get there

You can get there from the village of Kurortnoye, which is located a few kilometers from the bay under the Kara-Dog mountain. You can get to this village by bus, private car or using a taxi.

By car

The most convenient way to travel is by car, because you can arrive at any time, regardless of the bus and train schedule, and you can also find the most comfortable place on the coast. The only drawback is the dirt road, which is no different high level comfort, especially during rains.

To get to the bay, you should follow the route:

  1. get to the highway Feodosia - Sudak;
  2. turn off in front of Shcherbetovka to Kurortnoye;
  3. before reaching the village, turn right onto a dirt road;
  4. go straight all the way to the seashore.

By train

Tourists who want to get to Fox Bay by train must first get to Feodosia, and then by bus to the village of Kurortnoye, from which you need to walk about 2 km to the beach.
It will take about 40 minutes.

By plane

Tourists who are at a great distance from the bay can initially fly by plane to the airport in Simferopol, and then by bus to get to Feodosia or Koktebel. Then you can get there in the way described above.

Wild beach for informals and other beaches of the Crimean "Liski"

On the Crimean peninsula there are many excellent beaches that are not inferior in the softness of the sand, as well as the gentleness of the sea, but only in this bay the spirit of youth and wild nature reigns. The beach in Fox Bay is sandy, but there are stones, especially after a storm. From the side of the Kurortnoye village, the beach is rocky and small-gravel. The nudist beach makes the bay special and is everywhere.

Among vacationers, there are not only nudists, so the place is suitable for everyone who wants to get away from everyday life for a while. The bottom of this bay is quite flat, so the descent into the water is smooth. If there is no curtain, the sea water is clear and transparent.

Regardless of gender, vacationers will feel comfortable here, because the Fox Bay beach is a free place where everyone has the right to choose a comfortable holiday option. Experienced travelers note that it is quite safe here, but this does not exclude the possibility of theft.

What is interesting for tourists in Fox Bay?

The main attraction and popular tourist spot on Fox Bay is the beach, on the territory of which there is a camping area, where vacationers stop with tents. In summer, cafes are also open here, where you can buy food, water or sing in karaoke.

The cafes here are small with a minimal offer. A nude beach stretches across the bay, but locals prefer to stay near the village of Pribrezhnoe, where there are significantly fewer tourists.

Fox Bay (Crimea) photos of the beach are different, since they were all taken in a different season. There are absolutely clean areas on the beach, as well as popular tourist areas, where few keep order. There are many tourists here only in summer, and only a small number of tourists remain for the winter.

sights

The Echki-Dag mountain, which is the highest in the area, should be noted separately. It offers a picturesque view of the sea, the Karadag massif and its surroundings. On average, you can climb this mountain in 2 hours.

There are also 3 interesting sights that are located near the village of Kurortny. Here you can visit the dolphinarium, the natural history museum, as well as the marine aquarium, which displays a wide variety of the flora of this region. These attractions are visited by tourists with children.

The Karadag reserve is another attraction that is conveniently accessible from the Fox Bay beach. Hikers will like it here, because the territory is large and the hiking route, as a rule, takes about 5 hours.

There is another way to explore the surroundings - a boat trip, which is designed for an hour. This walk will allow you to see the Golden Gate of Crimea. Thousands of tourists come here to see the unique creation of nature.

Types and features of recreation

Most vacationers come here to enjoy a beach holiday. You can meet tourists on the beach different ages who bask in the sun, swim, read, play active games or have fun with friends.

Also, many tourists study nature, climb Mount Echki-Daga or make mud applications from volcanic clay, which are beneficial to health. Also in the village Kurortom you can visit the biological station or sign up for an introductory tour.

Echki-Dag covered with forests is located to the east of it, and Chal-Kaya is visible to the south. The massif is raised above the sea to a height of 688 meters.

The folding shape of these mountains allowed the formation of such significant lowlands as the Krutoy, Sukhoi and Branched ravines, and the Delyametskaya valley. This place is unique in that here you can see all the pristine nature of Crimea at once.

Echki-Dag is translated from the Crimean Tatar as "goat mountain". Kokush-Kaya - "turkey rock". Kara-Oba is the highest peak of the ridge - "black hill". At the foot of these beautiful mountains is the famous Fox Bay on the entire peninsula.

Fox Bay beach

The bay is located between the Kara-Dag and Meganom mountain ranges. The nearest villages are Pribrezhnoye and Kurortnoye. The city of Sudak is located 36 km from the beach, Koktebel - 15 km.

It is believed that the bay owes its name to a sea fox, or one of the local rocks, similar to a fox's face. Be that as it may, the name "fox" stuck.

There are no buildings in Fox Bay, only tents for those who like "wild" rest. The beach is about 5 km long and is divided by informals into districts. The boundaries between them are very conditional, since there are no boundaries at all. The bay is limited only by mountains and the sea.

Informals, "green" tourists, and those who do not need hotels like to rest here. People just put up tents on the beach and live. Back in the last century, the beach was chosen by nudists who walk around without clothes not only on the shore, but also in the surrounding area.

During the summer season, mobile shops and cafes open on the beach offering simple food.

There is a lot of gray volcanic clay, which is called keel. Vacationers are smeared with this clay from head to toe. The roads here are only unpaved, but you can drive by car.

The relief of the coast is uneven, the height differences reach hundreds of meters. Some trails, descents and ascents are so steep and steep that they pose a direct threat to life. There are two springs on Mount Echki-Dag: the Upper and Lower Spring. They say the water there is incredibly tasty. Tourists go up specially for this water.

The trees of the mountain are low, twisted by the Crimean winds, there are many shrubs. You can find ephedra, capers, wild orchids and the two-flowered Koktebel tulip, which grows only here.
